The Importance Of A Comfortable Seat On An Exercise Bike

The process of buying an exercise bike can be quite an arduous one because it can be extremely difficult deciding which one to buy.

It doesn’t matter whether you are buying an upright bike, an indoor cycling bike or a recumbent bike because you will always find that there are so many to choose from.

There are many different factors to consider, not least of which is cost, but one thing that people often overlook is the comfort of the seat that comes with the bike.

You could have a long list of extra features that will help give you the ultimate workout experience, such as multiple resistance levels and workout programs, built-in speakers, cooling fans and the ability to connect to the latest fitness apps. However these are all pointless if the seat is too uncomfortable to use.

This is actually a very common problem when you invest in a home exercise bike, even if you end up buying one of the top-end machines, but it is not necessarily the end of the world if you do find that the seat gives you pain and discomfort.

That’s because there are gel seat covers available from Amazon and various different cycling shops that will have super soft gel padding in them to help make any seat a lot more comfortable to use.

These are generally designed to fit any sized seat, so for around $20 or so, it is very easy to transform your exercise bike into a usable machine once again, as this video demonstrates:

Unfortunately there will still be some instances where the seat is so poorly designed that even a gel seat cover doesn’t make much difference.

So the point is that it is always a good idea to read customer reviews of the bike(s) you are thinking about buying to see how comfortable the seat actually is first of all, and to see if people have successfully overcome this problem by using a gel seat cover.
