Flabby arms are jokingly referred to as bingo wings in the UK because you will often see these flabby arms whenever an older woman shouts out “Bingo” and starts waving their arms around to make themselves heard.
However it is no laughing matter if you suffer from flabby arms yourself, particularly if you are not particularly fat to begin with and are otherwise happy with your appearance.
So in this article I want to discuss how you can tighten flabby arms at home without having to go to the gym.
Equipment Needed
If you are serious about toning up your arms and eliminating this problem, all you really need is a basic pair of dumbbells and an exercise mat of some description if you don’t want to get your carpet dirty. However you might need to use your bed or one of your kitchen chairs if you want to complete the whole workout.
Toning Exercises
Flabby arms are most noticeable around the underside of the arm where the triceps are. So therefore it would obviously make sense to perform a range of triceps exercises to tighten up this area.
However you should also do a range of other exercises to target every single muscle group in your arms in order to tone them up properly.
So here is a list of exercises that you should consider doing at home:
- bicep curls
- tricep extensions
- tricep dips
- shoulder press
- bench press
- arm circles
- deadlifts
- push-ups
Cardio And Weight Loss
In many cases, just performing two or three sets a week will be enough to tone up your arms (particularly if you keep on increasing the weight once they become too easy). However if you still have flabby arms after you have performed these exercises for a month or so, you probably have a stubborn layer of fat that needs shifting.
In which case you will probably have to introduce some cardio workouts into the mix in order to help banish this additional fat. Whilst you can’t directly target the fat in your arms, you will lose weight from your whole body, including your arms, if you do lots of aerobic activity, whether it’s running, cycling, swimming or even just walking, for example.
Diet
It’s also important that you stick to a healthy, low-calorie diet if you want to get rid of your flabby arms once and for all. This will help you lose this excess weight in the first place, but will also help keep your arms toned once you have achieved your goal.
Final Thoughts
So there are no real shortcuts that will help you tone up flabby arms really fast, but if you do lots of toning exercises that specifically target your upper arms like the ones listed above, and do plenty of cardio exercises to burn off any excess fat, you should hopefully be able to see noticeable results within 1-2 months.
