Fitness DVDs are now some of the biggest selling DVDs every year, particularly during January and February because this is the peak weight loss season when many people make a real effort to lose weight and get fit.
Indeed in the UK, celebrities such as Davina McCall have raked in a huge amount of money by releasing a new workout DVD every year, and the reason why they are so popular is because they do actually work in many cases.
Sadly this is not the case for everyone, though, because these DVDs often end up gathering dust on people’s shelves. So in this article I want to discuss how you can get the most out of these fitness DVDs in order to achieve your own personal goals.
Buy One That Is Fun And Enjoyable
The best thing you can do to ensure that you will perform one of these workouts regularly is to obviously buy one that you will enjoy doing.
Some of these exercise routines can be really tedious if you don’t like the celebrity or the fitness trainer leading the workouts, or if you find the music really annoying, for example.
Therefore it is always a good idea to read some reviews and watch a preview video before buying one of these DVDs.
Buy 2 Or 3 Different Workout DVDs
It is also a good idea to buy a few different workouts to mix things up a little bit. If you rotate a few of these fitness DVDs, you may well find that this prevents you from getting bored too easily.
As a result of this, you will be more likely to continue performing these workouts week after week because you obviously won’t be performing the same one all the time.
Perform The Workouts 2-3 Times A Week
A common mistake many people make is that they will only perform one of these exercise routines once a week, or even once every two weeks if they lead busy lives.
Unfortunately this is going to make very little difference if you are trying to get fit or lose weight because you need to be doing these routines at least two or three times a week in order to burn lots of calories and tone up your body.
Work Out With A Friend
If you are working out at home and always perform these routines on your own in front of the TV, you obviously have no-one there who can motivate you. Therefore it will be a lot easier to give up after a while and put the DVD back on the shelf.
So a good way to overcome this problem is to invite one of your friends round a few times a week (ideally someone who also wants to lose weight) so that you can work out together, and keep both of you motivated.
Reward Yourself
Another good way to ensure that you continue to use your fitness DVDs is to reward yourself after each session. You don’t want to be rewarding yourself with a few glasses of wine or a bar of chocolate, for example, because this will render your exercise a waste of time.
Instead you should watch a movie or an episode of your favorite TV show, for instance, or allow yourself to buy something that you really want every time you complete a workout.
