Introduction
When the FitDesk first went on sale, it proved to be a big hit with home users because it enabled people to do other things whilst they were working out at home.
Plus for those people who work for long hours at their computer, it enabled them to get some exercise and help to avoid some of the health problems that are associated with long periods of inactivity.
So in this article I want to review the FitDesk v2.0 Desk Exercise Bike because this latest model is said to be even better than its predecessor.
Features And Benefits
- multi-purpose sliding desk platform
- easy access drawer

Bike And Desk Dimensions
This bike takes up very little space in your home because it is just 28 inches long and 16 inches wide, but even if you don’t want it taking up valuable floor space all the time, you can always fold it away when it is not being used.
With regards to the actual desk, it is approximately 19 inches x 16 inches, so it is easily big enough to accommodate any sized laptop.
Positives
The major feature of this FitDesk v2.0 bike is of course the workstation because this built-in desk enables you to use your laptop, read a book or a magazine or play a video game whilst you are working out.
Therefore many people will use it to alleviate some of the boredom of a typical exercise bike workout whenever they use this bike at home.
However it is also worth noting that this multi-purpose bike can also be used for long periods of time because it has an adjustable back rest that will provide plenty of support.
Subsequently if you are someone who works on your computer for long periods of time and are worried about the well-publicised health risks of sitting down all day, this bike will be ideal because you can pedal away as often as you like whilst you work on your computer.
The good thing about this workstation is that it includes a sliding desk for all of your stationary, for example, and has massage rollers to provide support for your arms and wrists, which again ensures that you can use it for long periods without any discomfort.
With regards to the actual exercise bike, you will find that it is smooth and quiet in operation and offers plenty of variation because there are 8 levels of resistance that you can use.
Some people will just pedal away for a certain length of time or whenever they feel like it, but if you would like to track your performance, there is an LCD display monitor conveniently placed at the top of the desk that will give you all the key data.
You will find that this FitDesk v2.0 is obviously more comfortable than a traditional upright bike because it has a back rest similar to a recumbent bike. Plus unlike most bikes, this one comes with attachable resistance bands so that you can get a good upper body workout as well.
Finally, it is also worth reiterating that this bike is easy to fold away when it is not being used, and has a solid and stable steel frame and high quality gear components that ensures that it should last a very long time without any problems.
Negatives
It could be argued that there are no workout programs and there are only 8 levels of resistance, but this is not intended to be a high-performance exercise bike. The FitDesk is essentially a multi-purpose exercise bike that gives you a decent workout and allows you to do other things at the same time.
The only slight problem that I have spotted is that the LCD display (pictured right) is obscured whenever you have your laptop open, but unless you are analysing your workout performance closely, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
I should also point out having done some research online that there have been a few issues concerning clicking noises, but these seem to be isolated cases, and if anything does happen to go wrong, you can always report the defect to the manufacturers and ask for a replacement to be sent.
Overall it has to be said that the pros definitely seem to outweigh the cons because most people seem to be delighted with the performance and functionality of this FitDesk bike.

Optional Extras
If you would like an even bigger workspace, you can now buy a FitDesk Desk Extension Kit that makes the desk twice as wide. This comes with a mouse pad and a cup holder, and is well worth considering if you would like to use a mouse with your laptop, for example, or if you just require a little more space.
Also Available – The FitDesk v3.0
Since writing this review, a new v3.0 model has gone on sale, and although it is pretty much the same as the previous model in many respects, there are a few key differences.
For example, the new model has an even stronger frame that can now accommodate users up to 300 pounds, and for extra convenience, it now has a built-in tablet holder that will make it a lot easier to watch movies and TV shows on your tablet device whilst you are working out.
